Antimicrobial actions of phytochemicals

The objective of this project is to create an aid for phytochemicals, to help people improve their daily consumption of food/plant phytochemicals. Plants produce a variety of phytochemicals which most likely evolved as chemical defenses against predation or infection, but are now found to be useful for treatment of various human ailments. Due to their potential benefits to human health, plants have been widely drawn on in traditional medicine and their curative potential is well documented. Every effort will be made to compile data from most recent research conducted and the beneficial effects are identified through a review of literature. The result was the development of a handout titled "Antimicrobial power of Phytochemicals", that can be used as a teaching aid for students, patients and clients that will help them make wise choices and consume food rich in phytochemicals thus encouraging the use of natural food over drugs and supplements. Any recommendation in this guide does not replace or substitute for care, supervision and treatment from licensed medical representatives.
